Grand in every point

I will forever love 3-in-1. Not so much the coffee prep, though it is handy and a lifesaver when I need a caffeine fix—stat, but that of hotels.

Whenever I visit Bangkok, I always have three points to consider in choosing a place to stay in— it should be clean and homey, accessibility to the skytrain (the fastest way to navigate Bangkok) and within easy reach of malls (retail therapy IS relaxation). Having mentioned those to Nico M. of Agoda.com, another hotel came highly recommended—the Grande Centre Point Hotel & Residence- Terminal 21. “It’s one of the best places to stay. The hotel is new with excellent facilities, attached to the BTS station and has an exclusive access to Terminal 21, the latest shopping destination in the city,” he said. Three wishes granted.

Grande Centre Point Hotel & Residence-Terminal 21 is the newest property of the Centre Point Hospitality, one of Bangkok’s leading executive serviced apartment and hotel and residence business groups. Just like the rest of the company’s properties situated in prime locations across Bangkok, this hotel boasts of an ideal site along Sukhumvit Road and connected to two of the city’s transportation hubs-- the BTS Asok Skytrain and MRT Sukhumvit subway.

Convenience is one of its bragging point, and I can attest to that. Moving from my hotel by the Chong Nonsi Station to this hotel was a breeze. Grande Centre Point Hotel & Residence-Terminal 21 is just a few steps from the Asok Station.

This is both the businessman and tourist’s dream hotel not only for its convenient location but for its indulgent accommodations—498 guestrooms and suites offering city or lake views and fitted with state-of-the-art appointments, but for its extensive and upscale recreation facilities as well – an outdoor infinity pool, spa, a putting green and mini golf driving range, fully-equipped fitness center, tennis court, children’s play room, jogging track, and more. “The hotel is designed for both short and long staying guests with a liking for the finest living atmosphere,” said Nan Manakij, Grande Centre Point Terminal 21’s Public Relations Manager.

For this visit, I was given the deluxe service apartment with a view of the city skyline through the expansive picture window. The apartment reminded me of the chic hotel in Singapore I once stayed in. Both display contemporary minimalist interiors exuding a very-Japanese aesthetic, and everything electronic in the rooms can be operated from the bedside, where the central control is. To help me stay connected to work, high-speed internet access is available. This is the room that I will look forward coming home to after scouring the city of its fabulous treats at the end of the day and pamper myself with a relaxing bubble bath (in a tub that fits my giant frame comfortably), then snuggle into the signature bed, complete with high thread-count linens, pillow top mattress, goose-down comforter and down-filled pillows.

In this hotel, there is a selection of luxurious suites that can please any discriminating traveler ranging from Deluxe Premium to the Grand Deluxe, from the Grand Suites, all with stunning views of Queen Sirikit Benjakiti Park and Bangkok Sukhumvit Skyline.

The Grand Suite is aptly named due to its size and details. “This suite option gives Grande Centre Point guests the chance to enjoy a tranquil environment where they can mix business with pleasure. Measuring 65 square meters, Grande Suites are all corner suites offering panoramic views of Bangkok City. The living room is separate from the large king bedroom, making the suites ideal for private entertaining or meetings. A functional writing desk and a 40-inch plasma screen satellite television and additional features include a stereo system, DVD player, fax/printer, dual-line speaker telephones and coffee- and tea-making facilities,” shared Nan.

After touring the hotel, it was now time to explore the en suite building—the Terminal 21 shopping mall. It’s time for retail therapy.

Grand Centre Point Terminal 21 is at 2,88 Sukhumvit Soi19 (Wattana), Sukhumvit Rd., North Khlong Toei, Wattana, Bangkok. Visit their website at www.grandecentrepointterminal21.com
