What’s in Sukhumvit Soi 11

THE street is said to be the party strip in Bangkok earning it a “legendary” tag, and as if the teeming nightspots are not enough, new ones pop up like mushrooms to join the game. Somehow there is always space for the newcomers, and like they say, the more, the merrier—to the delight of the foodies and pub crawlers.

If you’re in Bangkok and craving for some nocturnal action, head to this strip. Here are a few of the hotspots that came recommended, which you may want to check out.

If you’re in Aloft, that hip hotel down the road, check out Levels at the 6th floor accessed through the elevator in one of the funky-clad columns of the façade. In this luxuriously adorned club and lounge, you can have a sip of cocktail under the grand crystal chandelier or let the tunes of the live bands and DJs on deck lead you to the dance floor.

The Alchemist. The name alone can either sound an alarm or incite the opposite. But whatever cocktail the barista may have concocted for you (one you chose from a wide range of cocktails), the concluding reaction will be on a positive note. That is, if the whole contemporary tweak on 19th century sophistication (wrought iron details and dark wood furnishings) hasn’t given you that good vibe yet.

If you’re into bottled brews, head to Brew Beer & Ciders. It’s one of the new members of the party strip occupying a two-level edifice. What’s your alcohol tolerance level? How many bottles you can pop open and consume may just depend on it. But don’t view their 300-imported bottle listing or the 10 brews on tap as a challenge to test your limits. It’s meant to be a pleasurable experience, and you can always head back for another set while you’re in the city.

Wine, you want? Have a glass or share a bottle with your date in a fancy repurposed abode. Cellar 11 has more than 1,000 selections of wine and this is where you knowledge of the fine liquid comes to play. Of course, the purpose is to tickle your taste buds and take pleasure in the experience. While you’re at it, enjoy the French and Italian cuisine of the house.
