Chic in white

It would be the nth time I visited Bangkok and with the huge number of hotels in the city, and more sprouting like mushrooms, it will take a lifetime for me to be able to try each of them.

The trick would be to search for my niche hotel. It should be able to cater to what fits me best—close to the BTS station for mobility, closer to the shopping destinations for retail therapy and affordable according to my lifestyle. So, I turn to Agoda, my travel bible, where I input my preferences and voila, the best-fitted options pop up. I call it my personal travel secretary on-line, sort of like Siri on your IPhone.

But I always take the recommendations of the locals, which is always anyone’s best bet if you ask me, and I was told to check out the newest baby of the Pullman chain of hotels- Hotel G. And Hotel G, it will be.

My home for this trip. Hotel G came highly-recommended.

I arrived in Bangkok at midnight and after a quick ride, I was at the hotel located at the heart of Silom, my favorite address. My navigator immediately pointed out the nearest BTS, the Chong Nonsi station, a short walk. Good.

Miami chic. Hotel G’s reception

The sight of the hotel interiors immediately shook me to wakefulness– it was all washed in white and minimalist, so Miami chic. The vibe extended to my room– aseptic white and dressed with 5-star appointments. It was love at first sight, at midnight.

“The motivation behind the rebranding of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G came from the need to evolve products to cater to the increasing number of younger and more savvy business and leisure travelers visiting Silom, Bangkok’s main business and entertainment district,” says Guy Poujoulat, General Manager of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G. “With an increasing number of new hotels opening up in Bangkok the profound changes and upgrades we have made to the property will fit the growing demand and be paramount to our success.”

In-vogue dining and entertainment are keys to the youthful spirit of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G — Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant offers panoramic view of the Bangkok skyline which makes it an ideal place to chill out and dine with its wide selection of wines and gastronomic delights prepared by Chef Manuel Martinez of the two-Michelin star Le Relais Louis XIII restaurant in Paris…

Sleep was elusive with my heart beating with excitement knowing that, in a few hours, I will be diving into this new, chic hotel’s offerings. But the relaxing vibe of the room somehow sent me to where I needed to go – slumberland.
